Why birth with doula support?

You’re in a dimly light cozy room, you’ve just gotten settled into your room, contractions have continued to grow longer, stronger and closer together, and you know this is truly is labor. You were feeling excited, anxious, and maybe a little unsure until your doula arrived. Now the feelings of anxiousness and insecurity are replaced with confidence as she lets you know you are doing great.

She holds your hand when needed. Reminds you and your partner to eat and and stay hydrated if possible. As things progress she encourages and suggests different positions or options to help with your pain management. Nurses and your provider are in and out of the room, but she is constantly there. When you’re tired, overwhelmed, or discouraged she helps remind you of your options and that you are making the best choices for you and your baby right now whatever you are choosing.

Finally baby arrives! As you and your partner soak up baby’s face, fingers and toes, your doula steps back. When you, your partner, and baby are comfortable, your doula let’s you know she’ll be in contact with you tomorrow, let’s you know how truly amazing it was to be there with you, and then she leaves you to peacefully be a new family.
